Micro-fine needles are adjusted to different depths and speeds to create fractional puncture channels on the skin’s surface. These micro-channels carry the Meso-Glide™ active serums selected for your skin concerns infused during the treatment deep into the skin, increasing the procedure’s effectiveness. Meso-Glide™ is a serum used during the procedure that’s safe for infusion and chosen to help correct a specific skin concern.

A skin consultation is required before any advanced skin treatments including skin needling to check whether the treatment is a suitable option for you, your skin concerns and other factors (such as health, contra-indications etc). The skin consultation will also assess if any skin preparation is required in terms of approved skin care regime and other skin treatments prior to your skin needling appointment.

As part of the skin consultation your therapist takes photos using a Metis Skin Diagnostic Tool to assist with understanding the health of your skin at a deeper level. The cost for the skin consultation is $75, which is fully redeemable on retail skin care products at the skin consultation appointment | T&C apply.

You will also be given pre-care and post-care handouts for skin needling outlining relevant information.

During the Dermapen skin needling section of the treatment an active serum base (selected for your skin concerns) will be applied on to the skin for maximum absorption and glide; this is called Mesotherapy.

Immediately after the treatment has finished an intensely hydrating and soothing Hyla Active 3D sculpture mask will be applied.  Finishing off with an antioxidant serum, moisturiser, and if desired DP Dermaceuticals™ ‘Cover Recover’ camouflage makeup with SPF to seal the skin and cover any redness.

Your skin therapist is a qualified Dermapen™ DP4 clinical practitioner and will following guidelines and protocols to perform the procedure under strict sterile conditions. All treatment consumables used in your skin needling treatment are single-use and sterile.

Dermapen’s advanced technology helps make DP4 treatment be a far less painful experience to other skin needling treatments on the market. Depending on what we are targeting in the skin, you may feel it in some areas as a prickling sensation (most commonly the bony areas) or as some clients say a ‘deeper microdermabrasion’. For minimal needle depth Dermapen treatments it is relatively painless.

We refer to skin needling as a gradual process, but with exceptionally longer lasting results as collagen reproduction takes time. Most clients report an improvement in their skin colour and texture over the 6-8 week period. For epidermal treatments, such as acne or pigmentation, results can show as soon as 2-4 weeks. More significant results are noticeable after a series of treatments with at-home skin care regime. The regenerating process will continue for up to 24 months following a procedure.

There is generally minimal to moderate down time after your treatment and most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately. However we do recommend no exercise or intense training within the recovery period and not to have the treatment within close time frame to any special occasions.

There may be mild to moderate redness immediately after the treatment. Your skin therapist will apply Dp Dermaceuticals™ COVER RECOVER™ makeup prior to leaving the salon to help camouflage any visible redness and for it’s soothing properties. The post-treatment redness looks and can feel like mild sunburn, which can last from 1-3 days.
